DO NOT EVER USE ZELLE!!!

My friend tried zelle because bofa (her bank) said it was the only way to send money. She was paying me back for something so i thought it would be perfect.

I got the email saying it was sent then when i tried to accept it, first it said my bank debit card was a credit card. Then i tried another one and it said the address on file didnt match the one listed. Which of course it did. After 2 attempts it locked me out.

So i called customer service, the guy didnt even tell me how to unlock it, he just said to tell my friend to cancel the money. I told her and she tried and was told by zelle that it couldnt be done. So i called again and asked how to get my account unlocked. He never did offer to unlock it, he just told me they dont have a partnership with my bank so i cant accept the money.

I asked what happened to it, he said its in hold unless i go buy a prepaid card and out it on there, but they will hold it on there for 3 days as a new client, or my friend can send another $300 to releaae the original $300. In what way does that make sense?! So my friend would be out $600, and I'd have no way of getting it. The zelle people must be laughing their bums off bc of the scam theyre pulling on innocent people.

Her original money now wont be released for 14 days according to zelles rules. By far the WORST COMPANY EVER!! People talk about payday loans being bad. At least theyre up front.

Zelle was supposed to be reputable, but its all a huge scam!! Dont use it!!

yes, i totally agree because the same thing occurred to me.

Guest

I agree 100%! I was just told since I forgot my password and locked myself out of the app, I can never use the app again because they don't have the technology built on the app to reset passwords....idiots!!!

Guest

Absolutely.....this app completely sucks. The UI is horrible.

The help is horrible. You can't even change accounts if you want to. My checking account is in my name and my wife's name and they also needed her on the phone to perform any action.

I was like this is BS. I could have changed my voice (which I should have just to have a little fun) and they would have been ok...thanks.

Guest

Delle is awful i can't receive my money because I'm locked out for 30 days because I updated my email address. I'm pist!!!

Guest

Send money with Zelle sucks...dont use it..

Guest

Tried to receive $1,000 using TD Bank / Zelle. Both of us are TD Bank customers.

Zelle SUCKS. Took three business days and the funds went back to the remitter eventhough his screenshots show my exact information.

Had him send a check. Zelle is worthless.

Guest

Couldn't even set up account was locked out immediately and received the verification codes more than 15 mins later

Clearxchange did not require routing and account number AND debit card. Zelle does requires all three.

I don’t use a debit card. I feel duped. Zelle kept saying clearxchange was merging with zelle and to deactivate clearxchange to become a Zelle member. Zelle did not say they required a debit card in addition to all my banking information.

Clearxchange only required banking info NOT a debit too. Now I’ve deactivated the clearxchange to register for Zelle and can not register for Zelle. I feel tricked into deactivating clearxchange because it’s Zelle’s way of getting more financial information from a person. Clearxchange didn’t want your debit card too.

Why does Zelle then require a debit card. I didn’t order a debit card for this particular checking account because I don’t need one. I only need clearxchange and Zelle for this one account with no debit card. DO NOT DEACTIVATE your clearxchange account for Zelle if you don’t want to give them additional information they want from you.

Why would they need an unused debit card associated with my checking account. All I wanted was money deposited into my checking account. That’s it.

Zelle doesn’t need my debit card to do that. Once you deactivate from Clearxchange you CANNOT go back to a clearxchange account; they try to force you into a zelle account at that point.

After a long time on the Indian Call Center they finally came though

there were so many complaints , apparently, complaints against , Clear Exchange

they changed their name to Zelle.

Their emails are cryptic. I have emails from Zelle saying I had to cancel my Clear Exch profile .

Then that the y were changing over on December 8th 2017.

Then , week went by , no payment .

Finally I had to re-register with Clear Exch

and got an email that Zelle still had not taken over ! Ten days later ?

One must have precisely the right type of cell phone and HAS to use the app only if their smart phone works with the app.. WHICH MY LG POWER X DOESNT.

now i CANT GET MY PAYCHECK. thanks zelle. U people suck. U should never in a million years force people to use a cell phone to access their money.

And a specific one at that. They dont even have their system updated to allow desktop access from my laptop.

RIDICULOUS. New world order much?

They force you to use a phone app to use this service. Is it so the companies can track your contacts or location information?

Why can’t I use my desktop? How does Zelle make money with no fees?

I have the same problem here. I wonder if Zelle is a scam?

I have clearxchange five star reviews in a few areas that I used successfully but I wanted to give Zelle 0. It is very confusing how these two are merging when one requires more information, personal financial information than the other.

They constantly ask you to change and deactivate clearxchange account insinuating you are registering under the same requirements for Zelle. You are NOT. They have gotten nosier requiring more financial information from you than Clearxchange did. They want a debit card attached to my checking account.

I didn’t opt to have a debit card for my checking account. Clearxchange took deposits from people who owe me money monthly and they use Zelle but it was put in my clearxchange checking account just fine. Now they are sending people’s deposits back to them because Zelle wants a debit card for my checking account ....why when I use it only for checking account deposits nothing else. Beware if you just want deposits to your account the moment you deactivate clearxchange, Zelle isn’t a roll over of your account infor from one to another.

Zelle asks for more access to your checking even if you yourself don’t use the service at your bank. So I guess they want me to order a debit card for my checking account and give it to them and let them have access to my checking account by a debit card. What for? Again I only use the checking account to receive deposits.

Zelle you don’t need me to supply you with a debit card I don’t use or have. You simply don’t need it. Why are you requiring it now that I deactivated clearxchange and they didn’t ask for my debit card information? That’s a deal breaker for me and now will have to ask depositors to use PopMoney to dona simple deposit to my debit cardless checking account.

Stupid rule. Tricky move that was not in clear view and print.

Sketchy outfit, Lost faith afver switching from clearXchange

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
After using clearXchange for over a year with few issues, it forced me to update to using the Zelle App. When I tried setting it up it said there was a problem AFTER supplying all of my financial info (debit card info). I had orignally started using CHASE quickPay and only did so because it was CHASE BANK. They then forced me to clearXchange because I was not a CHASE customer. Now this. I have ZERO confidence in this company and from the looks of all of the issues posted, no many others do either. I only reason I continued to use clearXchange was because I thought it was a consortium of big banks that created and owned it. It is not clear what association this company running Zelle has with the big banks (Early Warning Services LLC)

Customer Service --- USELESS

I called customer service to check on the status of a payment. Their website is so BASIC. Even when you call in it's like they don't know anything. I didn't need this moron to tell me that my account/profile has been created successful. I know how to create a profile. They can't even confirm if a payment is being processed or not. I seriously hate this and will do my best to not use them in the future. They need a website that functional and more helpful than what it is. It's like they aren't taking their role seriously. It just sucks when you have to rely on someone you really didn't expect to rely on and their service is... well, terrible.

Payment in limbo, no support

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Got payment from someone Saturday, and the e-mail said to update my information. I clicked switch to Zelle, and without any notice, the payment disappeared.

I called customer service and they informed me that the payment was no longer accessible from my e-mail now that I switched to Zelle (which I think I had to), and the person needed to send it. I asked the person to resend it, but they never got the payment returned to them, or any notice that it could not go through. I called customer service again. They cannot cancel the payment, return it to the person, or send it on to me with the same e-mail address.

I either have to go back to the person and have them cancel, and resend, or wait 14 days for it to cancel. I have trouble believing either of these things will solve it, but I guess I'll keep trying.

Zelle Is Not A Perfect Way To Send Money

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I wanted to move some money from a Chase account to a Bank of the West account, both in my name. The Chase account is a business account and the Bank of the West account is a personal account.

I was able to setup the recipient in Chase and send the funds. Shortly after I received an email from Zelle that said collect your money. When I searched for Bank of the West it are not listed so I call Zelle customer service to find out what I can do. It is then that I am told that Bank of the West is not supported by their service and that funds cannot be sent or received by business accounts and my funds are now in limbo and it can take up to 14 business days for it to be returned to my Chase account.

I asked why I was able to send money from the business account if supposedly it's not allowed and the customer service rep could not answer that question.

I also learned that each bank account has to be setup with a unique mobile phone number so even if I was able to use my business account I would need two different cell phones to make it work. I'm pretty annoyed that these requirements were not made know to me before attempting to use this service.

Payment seems to be lost

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I received payment of $500. I banked with B of A so I thought it would be simple. I registered an e-mail, and I made sure it was the same e-mail that the payment was sent to. Then nothing happened. No confirmation that the payment will be deposited, nothing. If I click again on the original link in the e-mail it just takes me back to the login page for B of A and then the same page for registering e-mail addresses. I'm getting rather concerned that the payment has been lost and I will never see it. I suppose I now have to get ready for hours on the phone :-(

Unconscionable

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

As was the case of other complaints, I had a clearxchange account. After reading zelle reviews, I had no interest in using zelle.

My clearxchange account was deactivated by them while a payment to me was in their system. The person who made the payment said its out of their hands. I even went as far as opening an account at chase, because that happens to be the same bank from where the payment was drawn.

Zelle has had the money for 10 days and has not returned it to the chase account from which it came and has not made payment to me. From where I stand, it appears zelle is using other people's money to finance their business.

Zelle you better give my depositors back their money immediately. You refused to let them deposit into the zelle account because I didn’t supply you with debit card information you don’t need in order to deposit their money in my checking account.

Zelle you have my routing and account number for my checking account. One of my depositors got a message the transaction didn’t go through. I wonder if and how long you will give him his money back so he can pay me with PopMoney instead. Another depositor paid today and I want to see what you do with his money too since I don’t have a zelle account since I wouldn’t give you a debit card number and information that I do not use for this account.

The depositors who used Zelle and I who had a clearxchange registration had no problems. The problems came in when they prodded, pushed, cajoled me into deactivating my clearxchange account. Also Zelle doesn’t do business with my credit union but my depositors were able to deposit into my clearxchange checking account. But, Zelle halted that trying to force me for the debit card on my account.

I’d order a debit card and give them the number and cut the card up and take it back off my account but what would Zelle do then. Forcing people to reveal more information than Zelle should have is shady.

CLEARXCHAGE ARE THEIVES

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
ClearXChange steals from people everyday. I called them and told them to remove my information so I could recieve money from Zelle because I couldn’t do so registered through both, after spending an hour on hold and a brief 20 min on the phone with a representative, I asked them to remove my information and close my account. She reassured me that everything was closed and shut down... well it wasn’t. She went into my account and changed all my info. My log in, my account number and who I bank with. And by doing so, 500$ that was sent to me to pay for my daughters expenses, went into a random account they put onto my account that she said she closed and now, they have me on the BLOCKED list because they’re quote on quote “sick and tired of hearing complaints from me about this”. stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My daughter went to USAA to make a payment to me through Zelle into my USAA account. When she clicked on Zelle and made the payment, I received an email from Clearxchange telling me she made the payment through Clearxchange. She NEVER made the payment through Clearxchange. But somehow since the two are merging, Clearxchange appeared. The payment never showed up in my account. I called USAA twice and they could not help me. Clearxchange it's STILL holding my $1000 and we cannot get it.

ClearXChange never bothered to respond to me, never got the money to me. Or only recourse was to go to the payers back account and refuse the transfer.

It was a mess. Apparently ClearXChange is soon to be Zelle, but it's the same horrible company.

Do not do business with them. Stickling to Venmo.

I had to do exactly what you did. We had to have my daughter refuse the transfer.

We were told to re enter it through Zelle, but they are just as big a nightmare. It's a mess.

Worst experience ever!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had been receiving funds via ClearXChange for a year. But the switch to Zelle is absolute crap. The app is terrible, and after several trys, each with individual issues, I got to the point of entering my debit card for a bank not listed. This was not accepted. Calling support resulted in a case number for second level support. However, they will not answer the phone. I have been on hold twice for an hour each with no answer. There is no method to get a call back (even cable companies will provide that), nor reach them via email. Absolutely insane! Forget the app - find another way to do transfers.
